Kuhio Shores sits in one of the most dramatic oceanfront positions on Kauai’s South Shore. Located directly on Lawai Road just west of Poipu Beach Park, this four-story building is perched only steps from the shoreline — so close, it’s often described as 30 feet from the water’s edge. Protected by an offshore reef, the location offers a stunning vantage point with wraparound views of the Pacific. The popular Beach House Restaurant is right next door, and the peaceful Prince Kuhio Park is just across the street.
Atmosphere & Style
This is the ultimate ocean immersion experience. Every property at Kuhio Shores faces the sea, with private lanais perfect for watching surfers, sea turtles, and even humpback whales in season. Sunsets here are spectacular and uninterrupted. The building’s design maximizes the view, with a clean, coastal feel that appeals to couples, honeymooners, and ocean lovers alike.
Accommodations
Kuhio Shores offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom vacation condos, all with private lanais and full kitchens. Each property is individually owned and decorated, so interiors vary in style and updates. Originally designed to rely on trade winds for cooling, many condos now offer air conditioning, especially in renovated homes — though A/C should always be confirmed before booking, as it is not standard throughout the building.
Amenities
While Kuhio Shores does not have a swimming pool or tennis courts, its direct access to some of the island’s best snorkeling and surf breaks is a major draw. Guests can step directly onto the rocks and reef fronting the building to explore the ocean. Two popular surf breaks, PK’s and Acid Drops, are visible right from your lanai.
Shared amenities include a BBQ gazebo, laundry facilities on each floor, elevator access, and free permit parking (typically one space per condo). An on-site manager is available on weekday mornings. Additionally, some condos include complimentary membership to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club (PBAC) — providing access to a resort-style pool with slide, tennis and pickleball courts, a full gym, and The Cabana Bar & Grill. PBAC access varies by property and should be confirmed when booking.
