Harbor Mall
A convenient one-stop destination near downtown Lihue, Harbor Mall is the kind of place that earns a spot on the itinerary not for any single standout feature but for sheer practicality and variety. The retail mix covers a lot of ground — clothing boutiques, souvenir stores, jewelry shops, and art galleries sit alongside everyday services like a post office, bank, and medical clinic, making it equally useful whether you’re hunting for a gift to bring home or just need to run an errand mid-trip.
Dining options range from casual grab-and-go to sit-down restaurants serving everything from sushi and pizza to burgers and fresh seafood. Throughout the year the mall hosts live music performances, holiday celebrations, and community gatherings that draw locals and visitors alike — a reminder that on Kauai, even the shopping centers tend to feel like a part of the community rather than just a place to spend money.

Hokulei Shopping Center
Throughout the years, retail on Kauai has been fairly limited but constantly changing. Imagine visiting Kauai prior to 2003, there would be no Costco, not even a Home Depot. Kukui Grove Shopping Center has been and still is, the staple for locals and visitors. But, in 2015 Kauai welcomed a new face for shoppers to get familiar with. The Hokulei Shopping Village finds a home right in Lihue, and although smaller than Kukui Grove, Hokulei offers a variety of new reasons to make a stop. The shopping center sits on roughly 22 acres with 205,760 square feet committed for incoming retailers. Safeway, Petco, and Jack in the Box were among the first to make an appearance at this new location. Hokulei is anchored by a 58,288, big-box, Safeway lifestyle store the only one-stop shop for fresh-cut produce, bakery and deli goods, Starbucks coffee, pharmaceutical service, Orly Patisserie, Subway, Panda Express, and more. Hokulei Shopping Village is right along Kaumuali`i Highway, across the Kilohana Plantation.
